Where is Conference held?
The 2013 NIRI Annual Conference is held June 9-12 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa located in Hollywood. Florida. NIRI Annual Conference was also held at this venue in 2009, and attendee feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

What is the agenda?

Is there a host hotel or headquarters for the Conference?
Yes, all Conference sessions and nearly all networking events are at the Westin Diplomat Resort. If you reserve within the NIRI block for the special hotel room rates, you will be eligible to win fun technology, free nights at posh hotels, valuable gift cards and other prizes. What is included in the cost of my registration?
Your conference registration includes full and open access to all sessions, the IR Services Showcase, keynotes and special events. Breakfast, lunch, evening receptions and breaks are also included.
Can I substitute/transfer someone else to attend the Conference?
You can substitute someone else by emailing with the new registrant's name and contact information.
How can I cancel my registration?
Please send all refund requests to Tarik Habayeb (
Conference Registration Cancellation Procedure
May 8: Last day to cancel and receive a refund minus $125 administration fee.
May 9: Beginning on this day, NO refund can be provided for registration cancellations. However, contact NIRI as soonas possible to send a substitute.
How can I obtain an invoice/receipt for a registration or group of registrations?
A receipt is sent via email for registrations. A confirmation email, with more information about your registration, is also sent. Please reach out to Mike Hyatt ( for a receipt, invoice, or additional questions related to registration receipts and confirmations.
Are meals included with my registration?
NIRI provides breakfasts, lunch and afternoon breaks on Monday, Tuesday and breakfast on Wednesday. The Welcome Reception on Sunday evening includes hors d'oeuvres. The Warm-Up Reception on Monday offers light snacks, and the Signature event on Monday evening includes heavy hors d'oeuvres. The Services Showcase Reception on Tuesday afternoon will have light snacks.

Is wifi provided?
Yes. Free wifi is available in the Westin Diplomat lobby. Wifi is available in all session rooms. Two Cyber Cafes (Services Showcase - Level 3, and hallyway on Level 2) are available for checking email and printing session material.
Do speakers need to register?
All speakers must register for the conference. Conference presenters with an active NIRI membership who are presenting a session or sessions in the conference must register for the Conference even if they are attending for just one day. There is no prorated fee.
What are the registration deadlines?
Standard registration ends on May 12. Late registration begins on May 13 and ends on June 7. On-Site registration begins on June 8 and runs through the end of Conference.

You may register during the convention at the registration area located in the Westin Diplomat Convention Center 3rd Floor.

How can I attend a pre-Conference seminar?
The very popular pre-Conference seminars are held at the Westin Diplomat on Saturday, June 8th. To attend a seminar, you must register separately from Conference. Register for or learn more about Finance 101 and Think Like an Analyst!.
Do I register for Sunday and Wednesday workshops?
Conference registration entitles you to attend any of the Sunday and Wednesday workshops. Workshop seating is open.
Can I pay to attend only one day or part of Conference?
No. We do not offer a partial registration. Please note that you can attend either Finance 101 or Think Like an Analyst! seminar separately from Conference with an additional registration fee. You do not need to be registered for Conference to register for Saturday (6/8) seminars. However, seminar registrations do not include registration for Conference.
Where do I pick up my name badge and registration material?
Your name badge is required for entry into Conference sessions, the IR Services Showcase, and networking events. Pick up your badge at the NIRI registration desk located in the Westin Diplomat Convention Center 3rd Floor. Please wear your badge at all times as it is required for entry to all NIRI conference activities.
Can my guest attend meeting functions, as well as evening receptions?
Guests may not attend sessions, sporting events, or workshops. Guests are allowed to attend the following evening functions:
  • Sunday Welcome Reception
  • Monday Evening Warm-up Reception
  • Monday Signature Event
  • Tuesday Services Showcase Reception, and
  • Tuesday Taste of Hollywood
All guests must register in order to participate in evening events. The guest fee is $100, is required for access to evening events, and only covers evening events (breakfast, lunch, and session access not included with guest registrations). Registered guests include any party not professionally in the field of investor relations or a related discipline. A member may not be a guest pass recipient.
What is the attire?
The dress code for the Conference is business casual. Meeting room temperatures will vary, so wear layered clothing to ensure your personal comfort. We also recommend comfortable shoes and light rain gear for outside events.
Is childcare service provided?
No. Childcare service is not provided. Attendees may contact the concierge at the Conference hotel for hotel and local childcare options.
Where is the Information Center?
General questions about Conference and NIRI are answered at the NIRI Registration Desk and NIRI Booth (center of the IR Service Showcase) in the Westin Diplomat Convention Center 3rd Floor.
Where is the Speaker Lounge?
While at Conference, go to NIRI Registration Desk located on the 3rd Floor of the Convention Center to pick up your name badge as it is required to enter the NIRI Conference space.

The Speaker Lounge is located in Regency Ballroom 3 on the 2nd level of the Convention Center. This area is exclusively for speakers. A representative of NIRI is in the speaker ready room during Conference hours to assist throughout the event.
Speakers are be able to:
  • preview and practice presentations
  • meet with their panels
  • make edits to presentations
  • ask questions of NIRI staff
  • submit presentations to be uploaded to the Conference website

    Is there audio and videotaping of sessions or broadcasting live on the web?
    The General Sessions will be videotaped, and concurrent session and workshop audio will be recorded. All available sessions will be archived for replay by registrants on the NIRI Annual Conference website.

    Links to audio and video are included in the material box on session description pages. A session will be marked if it does not have audio, video, or session material.

    Registrant log-in is required to access. To access, you must be a 2013 NIRI Annual Conference registrant, did not cancel the registration, and have a valid email address in your NIRI profile.

    Will there be presentation handouts provided onsite?
    Per the NIRI less-paper and social responsibility initiative, handouts will not be printed in advance. Session material is accessible from the Conference website, and computers and printers are available at the two Cyber Cafes (Services Showcase - Level 3, and hallyway on Level 2) for attendee use. Registrant log-in is required to access.
    What is the closest airport?
    Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (airport code FLL) is the closest airport at less than 20 minutes from the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa.

    Additionally, Hollywood is about 40 minutes from the Miami International Airport (MIA), an hour from the Palm Beach International airport (PVI), and approximately four hours from the Orlando International Airport (MCO).
    What are the ground transportation options?
    The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa is located just off Interstate 95, only a short drive from both the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and the Miami International Airport. See hotel website for various transportations options and fee estimates.

    Taxi fare from Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to the Westin Diplomat Hotel is approximately $25-$35 one way. Taxi fare from Miami International Airport (MIA) is approximately $60-80 one way.

    Go Airport Shuttle offers shared van service for airport pick up and drop off in Hollywood. The fare is $13 one way. The private sedan service is $45 one way. Reservations can be made by calling (954) 561-8888.

    SuperShuttle offers shared van service for $31 from Miami International Airport and reservations can be made by calling (305) 871-2000.

    Airport Shuttle Service. The hotel does not have a free shuttle to and from the airport.

    Parking Information. Parking at the Westin Diplomat starts at $25 per day.

    What is the South Florida weather?
    Summer in South Florida is warm to hot, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets, occasional early-afternoon rain showers, and great beach weather. Visit for Hollywood, Florida weather information.

    Does NIRI provide continuing education credits, CPE credits, or a certificate of attendance?
    NIRI provides a certificate of attendance with details of the sessions you attend. You must sign the sign-in log for each session you attend to receive detailed session confirmation on the certificate.     What is the OneNIRI?

    Will there be any sporting events?
    Yes, there are many sports and sport activities for attendees. The Golf Tournament and Beach Volleyball are Sunday (6/9) morning, the 5K Run/Walk is Tuesday (6/11), Yoga classes are Monday (6/10) and Tuesday (6/11), and a Group Beach Walk on Wednesday (6/12).

    Can I email a session description, tweet a session, or add a session to my calendar?
    Use the 'Action Menu' [ ] on the right side of the top menu bar. The email and tweet icons will apply to the page you are on. The calendar icon will display when you are viewing the detail of a session. All times are in U.S. Eastern Time.

    What are the topic breakout discussions/How do I join a topic breakout discussion?
    Topic breakout discussions occur on Monday (6/10) 10:45 - 11:55 am. They are IR practitioner-peer facilitated open-forum discussions located in various rooms. Rooms are posted to the topic breakout description page.

    Come for open dialog. Bring your questions. Engage.

    There is a traditional panel during this time for those who prefer the traditional format.

  • What is the Global IR Summit and Reception?
    This Sunday afternoon event is an opportunity to network with global peers and engage in conversation on IR programs. A reception immediately following the 2 sessions that open the event. More information.
    What is the Signature Event?
    The Monday night reception with multiple areas for loud-fun with a band, or quiet spaces for conversation. More information.
    What is the Senior Title IR Practitioner Lunch?
    This is a lunch on Monday that is open to IR practitioners with at least 10 years of IR experience. Attendees will enjoy lunch with a presentation by Laura Rittenhouse, and they receive a copy of Laura Rittenhouse's recent book.     Who developed Conference? Who is the Annual Conference Committee
    Conference is developed by the Annual Conference Committee (ACC) of IR practitioners. Led by Co-Chairs John Chevalier (P&G) and Angie McCabe (HealthNet), ACC began work in the Summer of 2012 and followed a well-defined process that includes:
    • topic identification and ideation
    • review of session concepts submitted by the IR Community (more)
    • a respectful challenge by Co-Chairs and the NIRI research and practices group
    • session refinement via conference calls and in-person meetings where ACC members challenge, defend, and validate session ideas

    Is there an attendee list?
    The electronic attendee list will be posted to the Conference microsite ( by Friday, June 7. The list will only be provided in electronic form, and attendee log-in is required to access the document.
    Is there a Conference app?
    The Conference app is a web-based application or microsite: iPad users are able to add the app to their home screen using the 'Action Menu' [ ] on the right side of the top menu bar.

    Internet access is required to use the Conference app.
    Is there an electronic version of the program book/addendum/hotel floor plans/attendee list?
    Program Book (large pdf)*, Addendum*, Registrant List*, and Floor Plans (pdf) offer information about Conference in a printable document format.

    *These documents require attendee log-in to access the document. Documents can be printed at a Cyber Cafe (Services Showcase - Level 3, and hallyway on Level 2).
    Can sponsors contact me via email/How did they get my email address?
    Per the NIRI policy statement on disclosure of registrant information in the Conference registration confirmation email, NIRI only provides name, title, company, and physical mailing address to Conference sponsors.

    Though the policy does not explicitly prevent a sponsor from reaching out via email, NIRI does not provide email addresses.

    Additionally, sponsors may not obtain email addresses from the NIRI membership directory.

    NIRI assumes that sponsors comply with email opt-out requirements per Federal regulations and include opt-out methods in their communications.
    Can I take and save notes from my device? Are cookies required?
    You may take and save notes from sessions by click on the pencil icon [ ] next to a session.

    This feature is available to Conference registrants and requires a NIRI website log-in. Cookies must be enabled in your browser.

    Note: If the NIRI log-in screen reloads after you enter your log-in information, it is likely that your browser cookie setting is set to not accept cookies.
